One summer, just for fun, Peabo the goat grows a giant squash. As news of the huge vegetable changes bit by bit into outlandish stories of squash monsters Peabo tries to explain, only to find that stories about monsters can be hard to untangle. It takes a screwball journey through gossip, science, newspapers, TV, the internet, and a failed monster hunt for everyone to agree — Peabo’s squash isn’t a monster, but it does deserve a blue ribbon.

PEABO AND THE SQUASH MONSTERS is a humorous picture book for ages 4-7 that combines simple narrative text and comics-style speech bubbles (654 words total), with colorful, character-driven illustrations. It is a book for both home and classroom.
